Eastern National, a partner to the National Park Service, would like to invite the public to meet author David G. Moore on Saturday, Aug. 22 and Sunday, Aug. 23 inside the Visitor Center at Chickamauga Battlefield. Mr. Moore will be available to sign his book, William S. Rosecrans and the Union Victory beginning at 10 a.m. At 1 p.m. Moore will provide a special presentation focusing on Rosecrans’ actions at the Battle of Chickamauga as well as events before and after the battle.
William S. Rosecrans and the Union Victory is the first biography of Union General William S. Rosecrans in more than fifty years. Mr. Moore tells the story of General Rosecrans’ military success in four theaters of war: West Virginia, Northern Mississippi, Tennessee, and Missouri. He explains why Rosecrans was removed from command four times despite his military successes and examines the important role that politics played in the Civil War. Mr. Moore explores the relationship between Rosecrans and Ulysses S. Grant.
Mr. Moore, a history guide for more than 35 years, resides in Washington, DC.
