The 3rd Annual Whitwell Summer Fest will feature pop/country legend Billy Joe Royal on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Headliner Billy Joe Royal is best known for his 1965 Top 10 hit “Down in the Boondocks.” Other acts include: Andy Anderson, former lead singer from the band Atlanta Rhythm Section; local talent Hunter Wolkonowski, the 17-year-old singer / songwriter who penned “Pray for Chattanooga” and is from Winchester, Tn.; Afflicshun, a Whitwell hometown favorite voted Hottest New Band in the Chattanooga area by Sheersounds earlier this year; and the gospel group, On The Rock.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
"We are excited to host such a fun event for Whitwell, Marion County and our neighbors in Chattanooga and North Georgia,” said County Mayor David Jackson. “Everyone is invited to come enjoy the food and music. If you haven’t visited our beautiful area before, this is a great opportunity to get the whole family together, enjoy a scenic drive, enjoy the outdoors and check out the people and atmosphere that make our area a great place to live.”
The Whitwell Summer Fest will be held at the Prologue Corporation property at 8355 Valley View Highway. Bands start at 2 p.m. Guests can arrive early with a lawn chair. Admission and parking are free.
