Jones Raulston worked alongside JP King Auction Company in assisting in the purchase of over 60 properties owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority. After a dike at TVA's Kingston power plant ruptured in 2008, TVA spent over 5 years cleaning up and fully restoring the properties.
According to Matthew W. Raulston, vice president of Jones Raulston, "This was a monumental accomplishment for the area, and I am honored that our title company was chosen to provide Title Insurance and Settlement Services to the purchasers at the auction. It is a boon for our community and TVA did a great clean-up job to return the properties to its residents and to Roane County's tax roll."
More than 600 people from nine states, with 277 registered to bid, attended the auction of homes ranging in size from approximately 1,600 square feet to 7,100 square feet. Various styles were available, from rustic log cabin to stately executive homes. Some sites offered piers, docks, boat houses and more.
Sales amounted to approximately $9.183 million for all 62 properties returned to the private sector in Kingston.
"It was a busy but productive day that provided great value to this community," organizers said.
