AngelSummit US For Investors To Be Held Oct. 13-14 In Chattanooga

  • Monday, August 17, 2015

Startup Angels, the global platform for new angel investors to learn about startup investing and expert investors to learn about new markets, will hold AngelSummit US, Oct. 13-14, in Chattanooga.

AngelSummit US will bring together leaders from across the country for a two-day conference on the future of startup investing. Participants will include forward-thinking investors and entrepreneurs, and trail-blazing corporate innovation and community leaders from the US, Latin America and beyond.

The goals of the conference are to clearly frame the startup investing landscape, to facilitate new opportunities and partnerships, and ultimately to increase startup investing from Chicago to Carlsbad to Chattanooga.

“Startups are everywhere, but venture capital isn’t. We’re on a mission to eliminate the problem of ‘access to capital’ by unleashing the potential of millions of new startup investors around the world,” said Startup Angels Founder and CEO, Leslie Jump.  “AngelSummit US gathers a highly curated group of investors, entrepreneurs, and corporate and community leaders to chart the future of startup investing, in their backyards and on the other side of the country.”

The summit will open on Oct. 13 at Lindsay Street Hall, as part of the celebrations around Chattanooga Startup Week, with corporate and community partners including The Enterprise Center, the Jump Fund, The Company Lab (CO.LAB), Launch Tennessee and more. Chattanooga’s history of entrepreneurship, trailblazing launch of the nation’s fastest city-wide internet access ‘The Gig,’ and a new downtown Innovation District, "creates the perfect backdrop to host a national conversation on startup investing," officials said.

“Hosting the premier AngelSummit is a win for Chattanooga’s Innovation District,” said  Mayor Andy Berke. “By providing a physical space for ideas, talent, and capital, Chattanooga is maintaining its place at the front of the curve and growing the companies and jobs of the future.”

Charlie Brock, director of Launch Tennessee, said, “Entrepreneurship is thriving in Chattanooga and across the region and the state. We’re thrilled to see top national investors convening here. One of our key goals with Launch Tennessee is to provide a hub for the entrepreneur community to connect, learn, and get the resources they need to go global. Access to capital is a critical ingredient here and we’re delighted to host the AngelSummit US as part of our Chattanooga Startup Week celebrations.”

Attendees will include thought and community leaders from across the United States. Topics range includes: portfolio strategies, wealth vs. value creation, the role of corporations in startup investing, and the latest investor technology and data tools. Invited keynote speakers include Mark Kvamme, Drive Capital; Paul Singh, 1776-DC; and Anand Sanwal, CB Insights.
