DAR And SAR Chapters Clean Flags From Lee Highway Memorial

  • Tuesday, August 18, 2015

After four Marines and one Sailor were killed in the attack on Chattanooga, a memorial was set up at the recruiting center on Lee Highway.  It was surrounded by a sea of red, white and blue gifts. The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sons of the American Revolution stepped up to be the ones to collect and clean the numerous flags.

There were six chapters involved from the DAR including Chickamauga, Nancy Ward, Chief John Ross Judge David Campbell, Moccasin Bend and Avery Trace. The SAR chapter was John Sevier.

After rain, the flags will have to dry before they are bundled and divided for distribution to schools, clubs organization and special events.

Both DAR and SAR are lineal societies that descend form the patriots of the Revolutionary War.
