*Trust for Public Land Fundraiser to Build a Mountain Bike Skills Park
Imagine taking a piece of vacant land under Olgiati Bridge and turning it into a world class bike skills park! A place where children on strider bikes, the weekend mountain biker, and professionals learn and test their skills side-by-side.
A place where events draw contestants and spectators from around the world but also a place that is open to the entire Chattanooga community every day! We can make it happen! Trust for Public Land needs donations and fundraisers to help make this vision and reality. Check out the website to get more information on how you can help!

Downtown Kayak Adventure August 22 & 23
Join Outdoor Chattanooga for a beginner friendly kayak tour of downtown Chattanooga on the Tennessee River on Sat. Aug. 22 and Sun. Aug. 23 at 8:30 a.m. Our guide staff will provide basic instruction, then lead a leisurely paddle from the north shore around the Audubon Island/ Wildlife Sanctuary, the Bluff View Arts District, Ross' Landing and downtown's historic bridges. All equipment is provided by the Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga. Adults and kids ages 8 and older are welcome. Paddlers ages 8-13 must paddle in tandem with an adult (limit: 2 kid spaces per trip). Cost is $35 for Adults / $25 for kids ages 8-13. Reservations are required in advance. Interscholastic Climbing League August 31 
Outdoor Chattanooga will host an orientation for anyone interested in the Chattanooga Area Interscholastic Climbing League on Mon., August 31 at 5:30 p.m. at Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St. This informational, Q & A session is geared toward coaches, teachers and schools about how to start a team, format of the league, and instructional opportunities. Adventure Kids After School Program Sept. 1 through Nov. 17
The After School Adventure Kids program is a great opportunity for kids ages 9-13 to build outdoor skills that will stay with them into adulthood. Adventurers can choose from Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking or Archery. Programs will be offered on Tuesdays from4:30 to 6:30 pm, September through November. Outdoor Chattanooga guide staff will provide instruction and equipment for kids with all skill levels including true beginners. Cost is $20 per date and activity. Pre-registration is required and space is limited due to small group sizes. TN River Gorge Trust Evening Kayak Tour September 13
Join the Tennessee River Gorge Trust and Outdoor Chattanooga for a beginner friendly kayak tour through the TN River Gorge on Sun., Sept. 13 from 2:30 to 8:00 p.m. We'll paddle from Suck Creek Boat Ramp down to Raccoon Mountain Boat Ramp during sunset and spend 3-4 hours on the water. Outdoor Chattanooga will provide kayaks, equipment and a shuttle back to the launch site. Cost is $50/person (adults only) and a portion of the proceeds will go to support the Trust's bird-banding program. Registration is required in advance and space is limited. To register, call the Tennessee River Gorge Trust at (423) 266-0314. 
 
TN River Gorge Trust Kayak to the Bird Observatory September 19
Join Tennessee River Gorge Trust and Outdoor Chattanooga for a beginner friendly kayak tour through the TN River Gorge on Sat., Sept. 19 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. We'll stop at the Trust's bird banding lab to observe ornithologists, John Diener and Lizzie Goodrick, as they work, and then continue downriver to the Raccoon Mountain Boat Ramp, for a total of 3 hours of paddling.Outdoor Chattanooga will provide kayaks, equipment and a shuttle back to the launch site. Cost is $50/person (adults only) and a portion of the proceeds will go to support the Trust's bird-banding program. Registration is required in advance and space is limited. To register, call the Tennessee River Gorge Trust at (423) 266-0314.

*Catalyst Sports Climb-a-thon August 22
Catalyst Sports is dedicated to providing adaptive climbing opportunities to individuals with physical disabilities. Catalyst depends on the support of the community to help them with their mission.They're 2nd annual Climb-a-thon fundraiser event will be held at High Point Climbing and Fitness on Saturday August 22 from 4-8 p.m. Teams of 3 will compete to climb as many vertical feet as they can as well as raise money for Catalyst Sports. You can come out to watch the competition, donate, or sponsor a climber in the competition. Visit the Catalyst Sports website or Facebook event page for more information.

*Urban Hike August 20
Join the Chattanooga local Meet Up group for an Urban Hike on Thurs., August 20.  The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. and start walking at 6:35 p.m. They'll meet at the Walnut Street Bridge (on the north end, Frazier Avenue) and walk briskly for an hour or so, then get a bite to eat. Bring ID and money if you'd like to eat. Wear good walking shoes, comfortable clothing and a smile. To join this Urban hike visit the Meetup website.

*TYMBR Mountain Bike Championships August 29
TYMBR-TN Youth Mountain Bike Race Championships, "The Cub Challenge", will be held on Sat., August 29 atRaccoon Mountain. This is the final race of the TYMBR Mountain Bike Race Series presented by Cohutta Adventures. The race is open to children ages 3-12 years old, with categories specific to age groups. Race start times and cost varies depending on the category/age of the racer. There are also categories open to adults, who are encouraged to ride with their kids or on their own. Lunch will be available for purchase and is catered by Pruett's. Registration is required in advance and lunch tickets can be purchased online at Bike Reg.

*Free Outdoor Movie Night in the Park September 4
Bring the family out for a free outdoor movie and family friendly activities at the Hubert Fry Center at the Tennessee River Park, 4301 Amnicola Hwy. on Fri., Sept. 4. There will be games, a costume contest, concessions and a movie that involves a famous pirate! Activities start at 7:30 p.m. and the movie starts at dark.
