The Alpha Beta chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) has a long history of service to Orange Grove Center dating back to the 1960s that has included the refurnishing of approximately 24 residential homes.

Money used to refurnish homes comes from investments earned through the Wanda Fleming Fund, which was established in Ms. Fleming’s honor by the Alpha Beta Chapter in 1985 upon her retirement as Orange Grove’s Assistant Director,” said Betty Jolly.

The sorority’s most recent project included the refurnishing of the Main Street residence for men. Orange Grove Executive Director Kyle Hauth, board members, and other Orange Grove administrators were amazed at the quality of the work coordinated by eight Alpha Beta members over the past year.

The team members assembled to complete the refurnishing of this home included Wanda Collins, Linda Gearinger, Sue Beebe, Shirley Walker, Adele Shaw, Betty Jolly, Florence Cerantonio and Sheila Trudell.Planning for the home began in January 2015.

“We chose the paint colors first, followed by the flooring, blinds, furniture, appliances, draperies, and finally the décor,” said Ms. Gearinger.

Painting was completed in March and furniture was ordered from E.F. Brannon Furniture. In April we began the process of having windows and floors measured and selected the appliances. Blinds were purchased from The Blind Lady and flooring from End of the Roll, while appliances came from Lowes. We have worked closely with these vendors in the past for a great selection and pricing of merchandise. Alpha Beta ladies put their decorating skills to work in May and the final touches were completed the very day of the Open House on Aug. 16,” said Mrs. Collins.

The entrance to the home radiated an immediate homey feel using a color scheme of brown, rust, gold, burgundy, green and tan in the living room, hallways and kitchen. For the men’s bedrooms, one section was decorated in shades of gray while the other section used brown tones. Residents seemed very happy with the color choices and décor in their bedrooms that reflected their interests.
