Volunteers Tressa and Martha Clark were all smiles in the gloomy weather
Golfers participating in the Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House Charities Verizon Wireless Golf Classic gave their best effort playing in the downpour on Monday, at Black Creek Golf Club. Quickly into the morning flight, the rain flooded the course deeming the green unplayable. Golfers were given the opportunity to come back on the rain date set for Monday, Oct. 12.
Despite the weather, teams, volunteers, and RMHC staff were in good spirits. “We were hitting the ball through the puddle and made the best of it! It was actually fun,” on golfer participant said.
The event held on Oct. 12 will still have Kyle Blakely, seven-time RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship Finalist and 2-time LDA tour winner from Charity Golf International (CGI) present at one of the Par 5 holes. There will be a chance to win a trip to Pebble Beach Lodge or the Masters should the player hole out from CGI’s drive from the fairway. Contests will be held throughout the tournament for closest-to-the-pin and putting.
Awards will also be given to first and second place in each flight. The best overall team for the day will be awarded the RMHC Kaylor Cup. All proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga, a home away from home for sick children.
