HCSO Drug Take-Back Program Participates In 2015 Minority Health Fair

  • Thursday, August 20, 2015

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will participate in the 2015 Southeast Tennessee Health Consortium’s Annual Minority Health Fair on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Gate Town Center Mall. The fair is sponsored by the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. This year’s theme is “Empowering and Educating Minorities to Close the Health Gap.”

In an effort to keep prescription drugs from being sold or traded illegally, falling into the wrong hands, or flushed into the community’s water supply, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Drug Take-Back personnel will be onsite to safely and responsibly collect used, outdated, or unnecessary prescription medications. This includes pet medication as well.

The HCSO Drug Take-Back Program is a joint partnership with Tennessee American Water and the Hamilton County Coalition.

This year’s Minority Health Fair will include numerous opportunities for local residents to learn about health related resources and will offer services and information to those who wish to live healthier lives.
