Lee Welcomes New Faculty To College Of Arts And Sciences

Lee University welcomed nine new full-time faculty members to its campus this fall, five of which have been added to the College of Arts and Sciences. 

Lecturer in Mathematics Jennifer Cornett has been a part-time math professor for Lee University since August 2012. Prior to coming to Lee, she taught for four years as a part-time faculty member in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.  She was also an advisor to the graduate students as they completed their action research capstone projects. Additionally, Ms. Cornett has served as a free-lance math copy editor for various companies for five years. 

Ms. Cornett earned her Education Specialist (EdS) and Bachelor of Science (BS) from Lee University and her Master of Arts (MA) from Georgia State University. 

Dr. Alycia Franklin joins Lee’s Department of Business as an associate professor of business administration. Prior to coming to Lee, she taught as an assistant professor of marketing at the University of North Carolina at Asheville and as a professor of merchandising and marketing at Georgia Southern University.  Dr. Franklin has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented papers at academic and industry conferences. Originally from Knoxville, she maintains an active consulting business throughout the United States and is the co-founder and co-owner of a holdings company while being actively involved with a variety of community organizations in both the Knoxville and Chattanooga areas. 

Dr. Franklin earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Science (MS) at the University of Tennessee Knoxville and her BS at the University of Mississippi. 

Pamela Hobbs, lecturer in health science, has been a physical therapist and a clinical instructor for physical therapy students since May 2009 at Skyridge Medical Center in Cleveland.  Prior to SkyRidge she was a physical therapist for Life Care Centers of America in Copper Basin.  She has held numerous positions in the physical therapy profession.  Ms. Hobbs served on the faculty Senate and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges accreditation preparation committee while at the University of South Alabama, and has presented at numerous continuing education workshops and seminars. She has been a licensed physical therapist in Alabama, Florida and Tennessee. Her primary teaching role at Lee will be in the areas of human anatomy and physiology in support of both the nursing and education tracks.  

Ms. Hobbs earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) and her MS from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She earned her BS from Middle Tennessee State University. 

Assistant Professor of Graphic Design Jordan Holt has been serving as an adjunct faculty for Lee in graphic arts since 2014. He has served as the media and marketing manager at the Torch Worship Center, an assistant media manager for Bryan College, and a graphic designer at Wadel Media in Chattanooga. For the past six years, he has maintained a freelance business of illustration and design. 

Mr. Holt recently earned his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in graphic design from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco. He earned his BS from Lee University. 

Mark Vermilion, assistant professor of public relations, has more than 20 years’ experience as a communication professional. Ten of those years were spent at Indiana Wesleyan University, Taylor University and Asbury University. He started the public relations track in the Communication Arts program at Indiana Wesleyan and started and chaired the Public Relations/Communication program for Taylor University’s Fort Wayne campus. As CEO of Amplify Consulting for the past three years, he has worked with more than 36 nonprofit ministry-oriented organizations. For four years, he was the CEO of Ichthus Ministries where he managed over 1,500 volunteers to put on one of the nation’s largest and longest running annual Christian music festivals. 

Mr. Vermilion earned his MA at Regent University and his BS at Indiana Wesleyan University.
