Charles Reed, 43, Arrested For Burglary And Cruelty To Animals After Hitting K-9 Dog

The Chattanooga Police Department responded early Friday morning to 1304 Joiner Road on a residential hold-up alarm. 

Once on the scene, the initial officer saw a suspect inside the residence. Charles Reed, 43, refused orders from the officers. K-9 Duco was deployed in the flooded cellar area of the house, where Reed was located. K-9 Duco detained Reed by biting his leg. Several officers were able to then take Reed into custody. Reed hit Duco several times during the apprehension, but Duco sustained only minor injuries.

No officers were injured. Reed was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and transported for questioning.

He faces multiple charges including, but not limited to burglary and cruelty to animals. 

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423 698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
