Led by the one-two offensive tandem of Josiah Cannon and Hunter Arnold who accounted  for four touchdowns, Silverdale coasted to a 45-0 win against Lookout Valley in the season opening high school football game for both schools.

Cannon rushed for 75 yards and two scores on the ground and one through the air, while Arnold ended the night’s scoring with an 81-yard interception return to pay dirt and 46 rushing yards.

“We played with discipline tonight and this was a good game to help build some confidence in our younger players as we started some freshmen,” said Silverdale coach Al Rogers.

The Seahawks started fast scoring touchdowns the first three times they had the ball and led 31-0 at halftime.

Cannon put Silverdale on the board first on a seven-yard run at 7:37 and Connor Eischeid made good on the extra point as he was six of seven on the night plus a 24-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Silverdale junior quarterback Alex Gonzalez then ran 35 yards for a score and followed with a scoring pitch and catch with Christian Rogers for 33 yards to lead 21-0 after one period.

Gonzalez kept up the hot hand in the second period with a 21-yard scoring toss to Cannon and a 28-0 lead before Eischeid had the only field goal of the night for a 31-0 lead heading to the locker room.

The second half was much the same as the Seahawks took the opening kickoff and drove 88 yards in seven plays capped by Cannon’s 1-yard run and a 38-0 lead.

Arnold’s 81-yard interception for a touchdown closed out the scoring with 9:11 remaining in the fourth.

Gonzalez was 4 of 6 through the air for 90 yards and two scores ran 35 yards for his other TD.

Lookout Valley Coach Tony Webb

“I love your attitude and you are working hard,” he told his players after the game, “but football is a major technical game and we have to take it seriously … don’t settle for losing and doing the things the wrong way … we have to get better.”

“We played some kids tonight who were playing middle school last year and the game at the varsity level is so much faster and you have to process things quicker than when you were in middle school.”

Austin Stansifer was 2 of 10 passing for 20 yards and ran for 27 yards and he recovered  fumble on defense.

Collin Lovell and Reece Hall had fumble recoveries for SBA.
