Sara Holden
Sara Holden, 82, of Hixson, died on Sunday, August 23, 2015.
She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. Sara attended Carson Newman where she was Miss Carson Newman in 1952, she then transferred to Tennessee Wesleyan where she was Miss Tennessee Wesleyan in 1953 before graduating from UT Chattanooga. She was a teacher in McMinn County for many years and taught at Dupont and Alpine Crest Elementary in Chattanooga. After retiring from teaching she was a realtor in Chattanooga for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Holden, and her parents, Glen and Lucy Barnett.
Survivors include her sons, Geoff (Teri) Holden, Scott (Tami) Holden, and Todd (Sara) Holden; grandchildren, Cara Holden, Emily (Bill) Zimmerman, Olivia, Andrew, and Kelsey Holden; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, in the Legacy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Terry Shannon officiating.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens, Tn. with Andrew Holden, Marty Haynes, Mike Kirk, John Sisk, Billy Hester and Brad Braswell serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at Legacy Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale of Hixson and Hospice of Chattanooga for all the love and support shown to Mrs. Holden and to them.
