The Chattanooga Mocs softball team announced its fall schedule, featuring eight scrimmages at Frost Stadium, including the annual RBI Club Fall Classic.
"The fall is a learning experience, especially when you have a class of seven freshmen," head coachFrank Reed stated. "It gives us a chance to see how they fit in. Some of them are multi-position players, so we'll get an opportunity to play them in several places. Hopefully by the end of the fall, we get a clear picture of where we want to go."
UTC opens the season Sept.
19 against Cleveland State at 11:00 a.m., with a 10-inning format. Following that, the Mocs face Roane State Sept. 25 at 5:00 p.m., and Lincoln Memorial Sept. 26 at 5:00 p.m., each being 10-inning games. Then Chattanooga hosts the RBI Club Fall Classic Oct. 2-3 at Frost Stadium and Warner Park. UTC takes on West Georgia Tech, Union, Bryan and Chattanooga State in the two-day tournament.
"It's a great event for us because not only do we get to see everybody on the field, but we use it as an opportunity to bring in recruits," Reed said. "Some of the recruits that have already committed will come that weekend for their official visits, and we'll bring in other recruits that are considering UTC."
The Mocs finish the fall season with the annual Blue & Gold Game, an intersquad matchup on Oct. 10. Admission is free and includes a picnic hosted by the Chattanooga RBI Club.
