  • Tuesday, August 25, 2015
The Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute and Girls Preparatory School will celebrate the 95th anniversary of the 19th Amendment during a special event on Thursday  from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Frierson Auditorium at GPS.

Chattanooga City Council Chairwoman Carol Berz and GPS Head of School Autumn Graves, will speak on the importance of a woman’s right to vote, while remembering the many women who pushed, protested and faced adversity while championing for equal rights.

Attendees will enjoy light refreshments while viewing “Iron Jawed Angels,” a film that depicts the American women’s suffrage movement during the 1910s, following women leaders as they revolutionize the American feminist movement to grant women the right to vote.

In addition to CWLI and GPS, the following organizations are sponsors of this event: The Women's Fund of Greater Chattanooga, Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, GirlsInc, League of Women Voters, Daughters of the American Revolution, The Patten Group, and Yates Bleachery.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information and to register, visit www.cwli.org.
