Auditions For Youth Theatre's Sleepy Hollow Are Aug. 31 And Sept. 1

  • Tuesday, August 25, 2015

Washington Irving’s story about the quaint town and the eerie creature that terrorizes it sweeps across the Youth Theatre stage this Halloween. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is replacing the previously announced Edgar to kick off the Youth Theatre season.

Auditions for the show will be held Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 31, and Sept. 1, at 4:30 in the lobby of the Mildred M. Montague Circle Theatre.

Review for the Legend of Sleepy Hollow:

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Kathryn Schultz Miller is the spooky classic story of the Headless Horseman, presented with all the thrills, chills and laughs that keep young audiences on the edge of their seats. The storybook tale features the bumbling, awkward schoolteacher, Ichabod Crane, the coquettish Katrina, and Ichabod's brutish rival, Brom Bones. Six more characters play storytellers, keeping the action and pace moving throughout. As much fun as the play presents, it saves the best for last – the ride of the headless horseman. This adaptation remains dedicated to the spirit of the original work yet expertly involves young audiences with lots of suspense and comedy. A perfect Halloween treat, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is exciting family entertainment for 5th Grade and up. The approximate running time is 50 minutes

Actors in grades 4–12 are encouraged to audition. It will be double cast with the casts alternating the performances. Auditions are Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 (participants only need to select one) at 4:30 p.m. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early if possible to fill out audition materials. Be prepared to list any conflicts may have with rehearsal times which are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4:30-6:30 pm. There is no preparation necessary for the auditions.
