Thomas Guffey
Thomas Guffey, 48, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance after he punched his family member’s daughter and the father responded by hitting him with a baseball bat.
When police responded they found a man bleeding heavily from the head and another armed with the baseball bat.
He stated to police that Guffey punched his daughter in the face when she tried to break up a fight between the two of them.
She was knocked to the ground and said that she lost consciousness for a moment. She also was found to have a fractured jaw bone as a result of the punch.
The father said that he then grabbed the baseball bat and began to hit Guffey repeatedly with it.
He also told police that the defendant kept narcotics under the steering wheel of his car and, after a search, they located 6.5 grams of meth, 3.5 grams of unidentified pills, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
EMS had immediately transported Guffey to Erlanger for his head injuries, but soon after police were notified that he had fled the hospital as soon as he was placed in a room.
The defendant also had warrants out for his arrest in Georgia.
