Carden, Helen Frances (Cleveland)

Helen Frances Carden, 83, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the family residence.

She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher after many years of service to the Cleveland City School System and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was an avid reader and volunteered at the local hospital and the museum.

Mrs. Carden was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Carden; and her parents, John Lumpkin and Myrtice Adams Lumpkin.

She is survived by her two children, David M. Carden and wife, Joyce of Knoxville and Jimmie J. Neve and husband, Grayson of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Patricia Gomez and husband, Arthur of Lodi, CA and Amanda Michelle Carden of Knoxville, TN; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Ramirez and Nicholas Gomez; two sisters, Louise Simmons of Hixson, TN and Joyce Piercy and husband, Robert of Knoxville, TN; niece, Cherie Piercy; and nephew, Lee Simmons.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery in St. Elmo.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at the funeral home prior to the service.
