The County Commission is set to pass a resolution next Wednesday that will give code enforcement inspectors more power.
County Mayor Jim Coppinger said in the past cases could only be taken to Chancery Court - and then only after a lengthy period.
He said under The County General Powers Act that the cases on such matters as overgrown lots and junk cars can go to General Sessions Court.
County Mayor Coppinger said, "The Health and Safety Board has been crying for this for many years."
It will take a two-thirds vote to approve the resolution.
