Skeeter Slagle
TWRA is hosting the “Skeet For Skeeter” benefit trap, skeet, and sporting clays shoot for an officer who is battling cancer and recently underwent surgery.
TWRA’s District 41 officers are planning the benefit shoot for fellow officer Skeeter Slagle, who is recovering from surgery for prostate cancer and having a mass removed from his abdomen. Mr. Slagle has served in a public service role for several decades as an EMT, Knox County Sheriff's Deputy (retired) and now as a boating officer with TWRA in District 41. The officers feel like it is their turn to serve him and his family by helping raise money for his battle with cancer.
The “Skeet for Skeeter” benefit shoot will be held at the John Sevier Hunter Education Center and Range in Knoxville on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Five-man teams at an entry fee of $500 per team are welcome to compete in the 75 round shoot. Individual shooters are also welcome and will be placed on a team. Shooters will be scored using the Lewis Handicap scoring method and prizes will be awarded for the top three individuals and top three teams. The entry fee includes lunch, a t-shirt, and gift items and there will be no additional range admission fee.
The John Sevier Hunter Education Center is located at 2327 Rifle Range Rd. in Knoxville. For more information or to register your team, contact Jeff Roberson at 615 440-2217 or Jeff.S.Roberson@tn.gov.
