Mark Stephen Garner, 53, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died on Friday, August 28, 2015.
He was employed in law enforcement for over 31 years working for Chattanooga Airport Authority Police, South Pittsburg Police, Hamilton, Walker, Marion and Dade County Sheriff’s Department. He was recently employed by the Dade County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy, School Resource Officer, and C. H.A.M.P.S. officer at Dade and Davis Elementary schools.
Mark was a loving father, husband, son and a special friend to many he knew. He was very involved in the community working with the DARE programs, assisting with Cop Church in Chattanooga, a longtime board member for Richard Hardy Memorial School, and he attended Amazing Grace Church of God in Stevenson, AL. He announced Dade County High School Football games and had a HUGE passion and love for the Tennessee Vols.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin A. Garner.
Survivors included his loving wife of 25 years, Lea Ann Oaks Garner of South Pittsburg, TN; daughters, Bria Garner and Ashton Garner, South Pittsburgh, TN; mother, Mary Jo Garner, Trenton, GA; brother, Michael (Carla) Garner, Ringgold, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31 in the Chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Frankie Carroll officiating.. Interment will follow in Hooker Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30 and 10 a.m. until service time on Monday, Aug. 31 at Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton, GA.
