Adversaries in the battle over whether Signal Mountain should allow some property owners to subdivide their land into lots as small as a quarter of an acre don’t have Maggie Wulforst to kick around anymore.
Mrs. Wulforst has withdrawn her request for permission to subdivide the Texas Avenue lot on which she lives so she can sell the unused half, according to the neighbor who wanted to buy that land.
“Mrs. Wulfrust and I have decided to stop pursuing the sale of the property,” Lance Edwards said in an email to town officials.
“She has been wrongly vilified by the citizens of Signal Mountain and has chosen to sell the property as a whole parcel and relocate to Middle Tennessee.”
However, that’s not the end of the debate over whether large properties surrounded by smaller lots could be subdivided so the resulting plots would be about the same size as those adjoining or touching them.
Town council members said during their work session Friday that they will hold an open house during the next few weeks so interested residents can get a look at maps prepared by town manager Boyd Veal which indicate that the change would affect only about 15 lots.
