D9 Hosts Visionary Evening With Cliff Ellis Sept. 16

The Ooltewah Harrison Education Foundation, also known as “ D9,” is hosting a Visionary Evening with Cliff Ellis on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Central High School. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the event will start at 7 p.m.  

D9 is currently accepting Table Hosts.  A Table Host for the Visionary Evening sponsors a table for eight for $100. The $100 includes a variety of desserts for the table, beverages, a 2015-2016 D9 Honoree status and recognition throughout the night.  

All of the proceeds from the evening will go back to the five elementary schools in District Nine, which are: Harrison Elementary, Ooltewah Elementary, Snow Hill Elementary, Wallace A. Smith Elementary and Wolftever Creek Elementary. 

Coach Ellis is currently the head coach at Coastal Carolina University. With the 2015-2016 season ahead, Coach Ellis's 692 NCAA Division I victories rank him 20th on the list of all-time career coaching victories in Division I basketball. He was national coach of the year in 1999 at Auburn, when his Tigers won 29 games and captured the school’s first SEC championship in 40 years. In 1990 he coached Clemson to its only ACC regular-season first-place finish. His South Alabama teams won Sun Belt Conference regular-season championships in 1979, 1980 and 1981. At both Clemson and South Alabama he holds school records for coaching victories and he is the second-winningest coach in Auburn history.  Coach Ellis is not just known for his basketball coaching, but he is also a musician, an author and a gourmet cook. He and his music group, the Villagers, were one of the Southeast's hottest acts in the mid-1960s. He has published three books - "Zone Press Variations for Winning Basketball," "The Complete Book of Fast Break Basketball" and "Cliff Ellis: The Winning Edge," released in the summer of 2000. 

The Ooltewah Harrison Education Foundation is the educational organization representative of District Nine, also known herein as “D9”.  This newly formed education foundation represents the elementary schools within that congressional district.  D9’s mission is concise.  The organization is developed to enrich the educational and developmental opportunities for the Ooltewah-Harrison elementary public school students by implementing and uniting fundraising efforts.  Current membership includes the following elementary schools:  Harrison Elementary School, Ooltewah Elementary School, Snow Hill Elementary School, Wallace A. Smith Elementary School, and Wolftever Creek Elementary School.
