Chattanooga Strong Events Scheduled At Hamilton Place

A Week Of Special Events To Honor Armed Forces Past And Present

  • Thursday, August 6, 2015

In an effort to help the Chattanooga community heal, Hamilton Place has announced several events to salute our Armed Forces and local heroes.

The Salvation Army is teaming up with Hamilton Place to put on a patriotic themed parade, “Chattanooga Strong” that will take place Sunday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m. along the perimeter of the mall.

A special ‘Tribute Zone” will be set up along the route for local non-profit organizations to share information and raise funds to help the families and individuals directly affected by the shooting.

The main stage will be set-up by the food court where a special presentation and performance will take place immediately following the parade.  Groups or businesses who would like to participate in the parade can download a registration packet on the malls website at HamiltonPlace.com

The Tennessee Vietnam Memorial Wall will be on display beginning Wednesday, Aug. 12, to Sunday, Aug. 16 . The 1,291 names of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice are etched into the wall.  The display will be located on the lower level next to Belk Women’s and Children’s store.

Operation Heartfelt Salute, a special letter writing station, will be set-up next to the mall Tourist Information Center where guests can send a note of gratitude to deployed military personnel, veterans and wounded warriors.

Dan Wolfe, general manager for Hamilton Place stated, “I’ve heard many people ask what they can do to help our city heal from the horrifying events that took place on July 16.  We hope that in some small way, these events help our community start healing.”
