  • Monday, September 14, 2015

EPB Fiber Optics presents the 2015 Bachman Community Center Fall Festival and Chili Cook Off  at 2815 Anderson Pike in Signal Mountain on Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., rain or shine.

A five dollar admissions fee (ages 14 and under free) covers a tasting card to sample chili from each of the teams competing for the top prize. Festival goers will be able to vote for the Best Tasting Chili and Best Chili Team Theme. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. on the band stage. Tokens for the kid’s activities are available at $1 each. Some of the activities require tokens but many are free.

"Listen to local musicians performing on our outdoor stage while enjoying lunch," officials said.

The Signal Mountain Lion’s Club will be grilling up hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings. Girl Scouts from O-Ten-Talla will have sweet treats for sale. Fresh kettle corn will be popped onsite by The Kettle Corn Man.

Kid’s activities include a Petting Zoo, Balloon Artist, Pony Rides, Carnival Alley, Cake Walk, Face Painting, Chalk Zone, Bubble Stations, Story Time, Inflatable Obstacle Course, Bounce House, Wheel of Fortune Game, Bachman Squirrel Scavenger Hunt, Jumpin’ German Activity and more.

Local vendors will be offering a selection of unique art and craft items. Bachman Bargains will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Local nonprofit, Happinest Wildlife Rescue, will be there to educate residents on how to protect native wildlife. The Pumpkin Patch will be selling naming bricks to raise funds for needed renovations. There will also be drawings for door prizes. Money raised from this event will go to help preserve the Historic Bachman School and to develop new programs to benefit the community.

"In addition to EPB Fiber Optics, we would like to thank Team Travis Close, BHHS Reality Center; Evans Harrison Hackett, PLLC Law Firm; Johnson Insurance Agency; Patrice and Jeff Wishmyer, Keller Williams Reality; Warble; and Peppers Construction for their generous support of this event," officials said. "Free parking will be available at area churches with shuttle service to the festival. We would like to thank our local churches and Alexian Village for their support."
