The Southern League has announced that Chattanooga Lookouts’ outfielders Max Kepler and Adam Brett Walker II have been named to the Southern League Post-Season All-Star Team.
Kepler has paced the league in batting all season long, currently leading the league in average at .327. He also leads the league in slugging percentage at .540 and on-base percentage at .415. The two-time player of the week’s breakout season was highlighted by an outstanding month of May in which he hit .359 (37-for-103) with 13 doubles, two homers and 14 RBIs.
Kepler was also named to the Futures Game and was one of seven Lookouts to be named to the Southern League’s All-Star Team.
Joining Kepler on the North Division All-Star Team was Walker II who walked away from Montgomery winning the League’s Homerun Derby. Walker II was also named the Southern League’s Player of the Month in June after hitting a Minor League Baseball-leading 11 homeruns. Along with earning numerous accolades this season, Walker II has also hit his way into the Lookouts’ record books. So far this year the outfielder has broken the team’s modern-era home run record with 30 dingers and the team’s modern-era RBI record with 103. His 30 HRs and 103 RBIs rank the highest in all of Double-A baseball. He also leads the Southern League in extra-base hits (63), total bases (243) and is second in slugging (.505).
Thursday, the Lookouts begin their last regular season homestand of the year when they play the Jackson Generals at 7:15 p.m. This promotion packed slate includes Thirsty Thursdaytm on 9/3, Fireworks Friday on 9/4 (Tennessee Lottery), Mini-Bat Giveaway/Myron Noodleman (Dr. Pepper) on 9/5 and Fan Appreciation Night (Tennessee Valley Railroad) on 9/6.
