Peter Magin
Peter “Pete” Joseph Magin, Jr. 97, of Chickamauga, Georgia, died on Saturday, September 19, 2015 a few weeks shy of his 98th birthday.
Born and raised in Boynton, he was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. He was a veteran of World War II, a former employee of the Mueller Corporation where he worked as a machinist for over 30 years and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the American Legion in Chickamauga, and member of the Fox Hunters Club of Northwest Georgia and he loved to garden.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Fannie Mae Strickland Magin; son, Jerry Magin; parents, Peter J. and Flora Long Magin; brother, Bernard Fred Magin; and sisters, Hester, Katie, and Elwyn Driscoll and Arva Jean Hamilton.
He is survived by his son, Richard Magin of Fort Oglethorpe; three daughters, Mary Jo (Ted) Austin of Chickamauga, Jean Brock of Rossville, and Sandra Magin of LaFayette; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Sept. 21, from 2-8 p.m., and Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
