Dalton State Soccer Wins 8-0 Over Fisk University

  • Sunday, September 20, 2015

After another slow start, the Dalton State soccer team finished with a flourish and beat Fisk University Sunday afternoon, 8-0.

“It was exciting to win our sixth game of the season,” said Coach Kerem Daser. “Like our Saturday game, we again had a poor first half.”

The only Roadrunner score of the first half came with two freshmen teaming up. It was a goal by Isael Guitterez with an assist by Grant Dupertuis.

“We got outworked the first half and I saw that we were tired from our Saturday match,” said Daser.

Dalton State (6-1-1) came alive after the break with seven goals. Roadrunner leading scorer Tomide Adabale scored four goals in the half. The junior now has 11 for the season. Emmanuel Olusanya scored with an assist from Andres Pena. Jose Daniel Villalobos scored on a penalty kick. Ibrahim Sissoko scored with an assist by Connor Curran.

“It is nice to see our freshmen goalkeepers, Christopher Curran and Diego Gonzalas, share the shut out,” added Daser.

The Roadrunners return home Friday and Saturday for games at Lakeshore Park.  The Bruins of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC will visit at 6:00 p.m. Friday. Fisk University comes to Dalton for a game at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
