The 70th Annual Women's Day at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 2305 E. Third St. will be held on Sunday. The speaker for the 11 a.m. service will be Second's own Mrs. Doris Ervin.
Mrs. Ervin is a native Chattanoogan and product of the Chattanooga Public School System. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Covington Theological Seminary, with a masters degree in Ministry, and of Second's School of Evangelism, an affiliate of the National Evangelism Movement. She is a second generation member of Second, where she has served as an instructor in the Evangelism School, and currently serves as a Sunday school teacher and administrative assistant of the church.
Mrs. Ervin, along with her husband, Rev. Richard Ervin, are founders of the Breath of Love Ministries, an outreach program that produces weekly radio broadcasts and Bible study classes. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
Music for this celebratory service will be rendered by a special Women's Day Choir. The guest soloist will be Mrs. Neva Thurman, Olivet Baptist Church. Mrs. Paula Coleman is the Women's Day music committee chairperson and church wide music coordinator.
All are invited to join the ladies of Second as they celebrate with the 2015 theme "Women Implementing Godly Principles", using as the background scripture,Titus 2:11-13 NIV.
Ms. Tuesday White is the general chairperson. The Rev. Dr. Ernest L. Reid, Jr. is pastor.
