Byron Raulston
Byron Raulston, 81 of Whitwell, and formerly of Chattanooga, died on Monday, September 28, 2015 at Valley View Assisted living center.
Byron was retired from TVA and a veteran of the United States Air Force having been stationed in Japan during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and attended South Whitwell Baptist Church.
He graduated from Whitwell High School and attended Tennessee Tech University. He was active in several churches over the years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and youth worker.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sylvia Schmitt Raulston, his brother, Paul, sister, Carolyn Mangrum and by his parents, Sherman and Pauline Alder Raulston.
He is survived by his stepmother Ginny Raulston; son Rick (Susan) Raulston; daughter, Tara Raulston Dodd; four grandchildren, Tyler Johns, Kassie Davis, Makenzie Dodd, Madison Dodd, two great-grandchildren, Riley Davis, Marley Davis. Sister Fonda (Bob) Hall; brothers, Gene (Carol) Raulston, Donald (Glenna) Raulston; sister in law Karen (Ray) Cate and and aunt, Nell Mobley, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, all of whom were very close to him. We want to especially thank Marty and Tarran Raulston for the loving care that they gave Byron.
Celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. David King and Dr. Darrell A. Winters officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Concord Baptist Church or South Whitwell Baptist Church.
