The Georgia Northwestern Lady Bobcats volleyball team fell to 0-9 after losing their first two home matches of the season.
This past Friday at the Rossville Athletic Center, the Lady Bobcats fell to The Crown College out of Powell, Tenn. in straight sets, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-15.
Abbey Hannah led the Lady Bobcats with six kills while added 10 digs. Gabrille Pace had a solid all-around match with three kills, three aces, four digs and two assists, while Sarah Dorsey finished with four kills and two digs.
Alysa Daniel had nine digs, two kills, an ace and an assist. Madison Killen collected 23 digs to go with three kills and three assists, while Nicole Rayburn added 20 assists, two kills and four digs.
Then on Monday night, back at the RAC, the Lady Bobcats managed to take the first set against Hiwassee College, but ran out of steam and lost in four sets.
Georgia Northwestern, forced to play the majority of the opening set with just five players due to a medical issue, managed to pull off a 25-23 win. The Lady Bobcats had their full compliment of six players back for the second set, but were edged out, 26-24.
The Lady Tigers took control after that, winning the final two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-11.
Hannah finished with a team-high 15 kills to go with nine digs, six assists and an ace. Pace had three kills and four blocks to go with eight digs, two assists and an ace. Dorsey ended the match with four blocks, four digs, three assists and a kill.
Daniel collected 13 digs while adding five assists, two kills and two aces. Killen had five kills and 18 digs from her libero position and Rayburn ended the night with 10 kills, 10 assists, four digs and an ace.
Georgia Northwestern will be back at home at the RAC on Saturday as Crown and the Bryan College junior varsity squad will face off in a tri-match, starting at 11 a.m. Covenant College’s JV will pay a visit to Rossville next Monday night at 7 p.m.
