The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team clinched its ninth three-set win against host Wofford Tuesday night, giving the squad a 3-0 start in Southern Conference play.

The Mocs won 25-23, 25-17, 25-18 to increase their win streak to 10, the longest since 1999, and improve to 14-2, the best start in school history.

"Anytime you can get a road win in conference is special," head coach Travis Filar stated. "The team continues to amaze me with their toughness, confidence and competitive drive."

The first set went back and forth, with Chattanooga claiming the frame 25-23.

At the beginning of the second, UTC went on a five-point run, the most of the match, to take an early 6-2 lead. UTC kept the pressure on the Terriers throughout the second and third set, winning both by at least seven points (25-17, 25-18).

Senior Briana Reid (Houston Texas) wrapped the match up with two kills in a row, giving her a team-best 15 kills. Junior Allie Davenport (Tyrone, Ga.) followed with 11 and paced the squad with a .417 attack percentage. Both student-athletes only recorded one attack error.

Sophomore Madison Bergren (Muncie, Ind.) posted 35 assists in her debut as the starting setter for the Mocs. She set the attackers up for a collective .292 hitting percentage.

"Our offense continues to be a strength," said Filar. "Madison did a great job stepping up and running the points. On the outside, Allie and Briana were spectacular tonight."

Defensively, senior Catherine Chason (Alpharetta, Ga.) and freshman Rachel Petkosh (Merritt Island, Fla.) led the way, recording 20 and 10 digs respectively.

The Mocs return home to face Mercer Friday at 6:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) in Maclellan Gym. Admission is free.
