United Daughters of the Confederacy Jefferson Davis Chapter 900 held its September meeting at the Kinser Church of God.

The meeting was called to order by President Marilyn Kinne.  The ritual was given by Helen Riden. Flag pledges and salutes were given, and songs were led by Anita Green.  Peggy Morrison presented the Treasurer’s report.  Lunch was provided by Teresa Silvers.

Prospective new members are Ashley Anderson, Jennifer Mills, Amy Kibble, Christine Bear and Maggie Lee.

In old business, it was reported that the reprint of the cookbook is selling well.  Books will be taken and sold at the State Convention in Nashville.  The Civil War History pamphlet will be printed and given to 1,500 school children in Bradley and Polk Counties.  The pamphlet should be distributed in October.  Members are working on a project to have a biography book on the Jefferson Davis first Charter members.  Approximately $4,000 in coupons have been sent to military families collected from UDC members.

In new business, plans are being made for members to attend the UDC State Convention in Nashville.  The convention will be at the Inn at Opryland Oct 2-4.

Programs and hostesses were selected for the upcoming 2015-2016 year.   The program was presented by Kevin Kinne on Robert’s Rules of Order.  Robert’s Rules of Order provides for common rules and procedures to be used for fair and orderly meetings.

The UDC Jefferson Davis Chapter 900 will hold its next meeting on Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Kinser Church of God in Cleveland.
