SCWN September Marketplace Luncheon Features Rae Bond As Speaker

The Scenic City Women’s Network September luncheon will feature guest speaker, Rae Young Bond.  The event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 24 at Mountain City Club , 729 Chestnut St.  Networking will be from 11:30 a.m.-noon, with the luncheon from noon-1 p.m.

The menu will be: Wild Green Club Salad, Pot roast, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Rolls, Double Chocolate Layer Cake or Coconut Pie, Iced Tea or Coffee.  A vegetarian meal is available upon request when making reservations.

The luncheon cost is $20, or $15 non-profit rate for paid employee of a 501c3 organization.  To make reservations, email reservations@scwn.org, or call 423.698.6262.  Reservation deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 22 at noon.

Rae Young Bond is the CEO of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society, the Medical Foundation of Chattanooga, and Project Access, a community health partnership to provide charity care for low-income uninsured residents of Hamilton County.

She was the founding president and executive director of First Things First, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families, which she led from 1997-2001. She also served as executive director of the Tennessee Municipal League. Before moving to Chattanooga, she was director of public affairs for the National Governors’ Association in Washington, D.C., for 10 years; editor of a national weekly newspaper published by the National Association of Counties; a congressional press secretary; and an award-winning journalist in her native Idaho. She is a graduate of Towson State University. She has also received several community service awards and served on numerous boards and local, state, and national committees. Ms. Bond was on the organizing committee for SCWN and served as SCWN’s first board president.

She and her husband Bill have two adult sons. In her free time, Ms. Bond enjoys reading, puttering in her herb garden, making homemade jam and pickles, and playing the piano and organ at the Charleston Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Charleston, Tn.
