The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments will consider three applicants when it meets Sept. 25, in Harriman to select nominees for the impending criminal court vacancy in the Ninth Judicial District, which serves Loudon, Meigs, Morgan, and Roane counties.
The impending vacancy has been created by the announcement by Judge E. Eugene Eblen that he is retiring effective Dec. 31.
The applicants are:
Walter B. Johnson, II
Lenoir City
Porsche Lyn Shantz
Lenoir City
Jeffery H. Wicks
Rockwood
The Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments will interview the applicants on Friday, Sept. 25, in the Raider Room at Roane State Community College, 276 Patton Lane, Harriman. The meeting will include a public hearing starting at 9:30 a.m., during which members of the public may express their opinions about the applicants. The interview and public hearing will be open to the public.
The council is expected to vote immediately following the interviews and forward the names to Governor Bill Haslam for his consideration.
