  • Wednesday, January 13, 2016
The public is invited to "Take the Plunge for Special Olympics" on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Finley Stadium. Participants can support Special Olympic athletes by jumping into a pool of freezing cold water.

"With just $50 in donations ($40 for students and children) each plunger receives the official long-sleeved Plunge t-shirt, a complimentary lunch and all bragging rights associated with such a brave endeavor," officials said.

The Polar Plunge has become the signature fundraising event for Special Olympics with Plunges taking place all over the U.S.

"We call it Freezin’ for a Reason," officials said.
"The mission of Special Olympics is to transform lives through the joy of sport, every day, everywhere. We are the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities: with 4.4 million athletes in 170 countries. Money raised from the Chattanooga Plunge stays in Tennessee."

Registration begins at 10 a.m., costume contest at 10:30 a.m., and the Plunge will begin at 11 a.m.
