Daisy Wilson Elsea
Daisy Wilson Elsea, died on January 13, 2016. She was born on July 31, 1911. Mrs. Elsea passed away in her sleep at home at the age of 104 1/2. She always included the ½ when anyone asked her age.
She was raised on the mountain in Ogden, Tn., but her birth certificate states Sale Creek as her place of birth. She was active and involved in life from the time she was a young girl on the farm. Mrs. Elsea loved to read and she loved to help people.
She was a member of the Women’s Volunteer Rifle Corps during World War II, and took a cosmetology course while her husband, Claude was in the Army, serving in North Africa, Italy and England.
She owned and operated Daisy’s Beauty Shop in Red Bank, where she lived, for over 50 years. She retired at the ripe old age of 98 ½. She was a member of Red Bank Church of Christ. Upon retirement, she went to live with her Daughter, Sherry Henderson in Alpharetta, Georgia where she continued to enjoy gardening and vegetable canning up until a year before her death.
Mrs. Elsea is survived by her daughter, Sherry Henderson, her granddaughter, Danielle Dick, her Grandson, Monty Cowan and two great-grandchildren, Ronnie Dinsmore and Bella Cowan.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with entombment to follow to Hamilton Memorial Gardens
