While many will celebrate the great legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King on Monday, officials from Widows Harvest will begin honoring the civil rights icon on Saturday, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with a day of service.
More than 50 volunteers comprised of local volunteers and a youth mission group from Birmingham will partner with Widows Harvest to make repairs to a widow’s home residing in East Chattanooga as well as complete the interior demolition on a home that has been donated to Widows Harvest by Wells Fargo Bank.
This historic home, named Home Harvest St.
Elmo, will be completely restored and will be available to purchase upon completion. Proceeds from the sale of this completely restored home will help to fund the many ongoing home repair projects that Widows Harvest undertakes on widows’ homes throughout the year.
