4th Annual Mindy B’s Sandwich Throwdown Starts Jan. 18

Friday, January 15, 2016

Mindy B’s Deli, at 828 Georgia Ave., announced details of the fourth annual Mindy B’s Sandwich Throwdown. The contest, held annually to celebrate the culinary creativity of Chattanoogans, starts with sandwich submissions via MindyBsDel.com and first round online voting from Jan. 18-28. Round two, consisting of voting with a purchase, runs Feb.

1-12. The overall winner will be announced Feb. 15.

The contest is open to everyone in the Chattanooga area. Individuals are invited to submit their sandwich creation via the website for public viewing and voting. The three submissions with the most votes at the end of round one will advance to the second round where they’ll be placed on the menu for two weeks.

The sandwich with the highest sales each day will receive a point and will be announced as the day’s victor via social media each afternoon. The top selling sandwich after two weeks on the menu will be declared the winner, and earn the right to  grace the menu for at least a year.

“The Throwdown is a great way for us to connect with customers, and empower them to add  their own flair to our menu by either entering the contest or voting,” said Mindy Benton, owner of Mindy B’s Deli.

How good are these sandwiches? All three previous winners have become permanent fixtures on the menu because of their popularity. Chris Grant won in 2012 with ‘The Rockefeller’, and again in 2013 with ‘The Rock Slide’. The 2014 winner was Brendan Hawks with ‘The Buddy’.

Mindy B’s Deli recently marked four years of  business in the Volunteer Building downtown. It celebrated by launching a new website that also features online ordering.
