County Schools Dismissing Early; Lookout Mountain Elementary Closed Due To Downed Trees, Power Outages; Other Closings And Early Dismissals For Friday

Due to a fast approaching weather front, Hamilton County Schools will dismiss an hour and 45 minutes early beginning with the early start schools at 12:30, school officials said late Friday morning

The schools will follow the normal transportation pattern.  School Age Child Care will be closed Friday afternoon. 

Lookout Mountain Elementary is closed due to downed trees and power outages.

EPB crews and the Smart Grid were working to restore scattered outages on Lookout, Signal and Mowbray mountains due to ice and high wind.

UTC classes are cancelled Friday after 5 p.m. and Saturday. Other activities scheduled on campus Friday evening or Saturday continue as scheduled.

Chattanooga State will close at 4 p.m. and no evening classes will be held. All campuses will remain closed on Saturday.

All emissions testing stations were closed as of 8 a.m. Friday.

Bledsoe County Schools: Closed on Friday

Bradley County Schools will close at 1:45 p.m. Friday.  Buses will run inclement weather routes – high, middle, and then elementary schools.

Catoosa County Schools: Early Dismissal - Elementary 1 p.m., Middle/High 2 p.m. Friday

All after school activities at Chattanooga Christian School scheduled for Friday, are canceled. Extended Care and After School Enrichment will not be offered. School will dismiss at the regular times - Lower School at 3 p.m. and Upper School at 3:20 p.m.

Cumberland County Schools: Closed on Friday

Dade County Schools: Early Dismisal - 12:30 p.m. Friday 

The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority has announced that its four facilities in Whitfield County will close early at 3 p.m. on Friday. Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center in Cohutta, Westside Convenience Center in Rocky Face, and the M.L. King Blvd. Convenience Center in Dalton. 

Dayton City Schools: Delayed two hours

Dekalb County. Ala. schools: Closing at 11:30 a.m.

The Drivers Ed class on Saturday at the downtown library has been cancelled. The schedule for the two remaining classes in this term will be as follows:
Class #3 - Saturday, Jan. 30 - 9 a.m. until 4:45 p.m.
Class #4 - Saturday, Feb. 6 - 9 a.m. until 4:45 p.m.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College will open at 7:45 a.m. and close at noon at all campuses.

Marion County Schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Friday

Orange Grove Center will close at 1 p.m. on Friday

Rhea County Schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m.

Walker County Schools: Early Dismissal - Elementary 1 p.m. Student Drivers 1 p.m. Middle/High 2 p.m.

Whitfield County Schools will dismiss early Friday due to the weather forecast. Elementary dismissal will be at 1 p.m. followed by middle and high school dismissal at 2 p.m. Students who drive to school will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. There will be no after school childcare Friday afternoon.

All four Whitfield County Convenience Centers (where residents can drop off household garbage and recyclables) will be closed on Saturday due to inclement weather.
