Martin Luther King Jr. Interfaith Celebration Set For Wednesday

An Interfaith Celebration will be held Wednesday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr's birthday.  

The event will be held at Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center at 1918 Union Ave. at 6 p.m. for a reception and 7 p.m. for the first inter-faith service in Chattanooga history.  

The service will include African drumming, blowing the shofar, prayer for unity, remembering Chattanoogans killed by violence, reading of "I Have a Dream", singing and meditations. 

Those participating include Drumbeats for Christ, Eastdale Community Church, Mercy Junction Justice and Peace Center, Buddhist Sangha, B'nai Zion, Islamic Center, Lakota Circle, Unitarian Universalist Church, Third Way, Friends Meeting, Baha'i Faith and Humanist Assembly.
