Brainerd Road is expected to soon have two funeral homes.
John Taylor told the city Board of Zoning Appeals this week that Taylor Funeral Home plans to open a chapel at the former Wimberly Inn at 3975 Brainerd Road.
The facility was last operated as a church by the Power Plant Ministry Center, which became Celebration Church and moved to Lee Highway and Highway 153.
Ryan Funeral Home of Trenton, Ga., earlier announced that it plans to enter the Chattanooga market at the former Brainerd Church of Christ at 4203 Brainerd Road.
The Brainerd Church of Christ merged with the East Brainerd Church of Christ in December 2014.
Taylor Funeral Home is at 3417 Wilcox Blvd.
The appeals board granted the variance for the funeral home operation.
