The Covenant volleyball team had little difficulty on Saturday by sweeping both North Carolina Wesleyan and Mary Baldwin in USA South action at Everett Gym. The Lady Scots took care of host N.C. Wesleyan 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-22) before taking a sweep over Mary Baldwin 3-0 (25-23, 25-8, 25-16).
Covenant moves to 9-9 overall on the year and 6-2 in the USA South.
Ginny Moore recorded a double-double of 11 kills and 15 digs to lead Covenant past N.C. Wesleyan 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-22) in the day's opener.
Allie Jakes and Jessica Seehorn had eight kills apiece, with Seehorn chipping in 11 digs in the victory.
Schuyler Moore had 30 assists and a pair of assisted blocks, while Hannah Stewart had 12 digs on the defensive end.
As a team, Covenant hit .169 and held a 37-22 edge in total kills over the host Battling Bishops. The Lady Scots also had seven service aces, led by Schuyler Moore and Emily Moore's two each.
Tori Stewart had eight kills to lead N.C. Wesleyan (6-12, 4-3 USA South) with Christina Huber adding 25 digs.
Covenant completed a 2-0 day by defeating Mary Baldwin in three sets (25-23, 25-8, 25-16).
Morgan Opgenorth led the Lady Scots with seven kills and six total blocks (three solo and three assisted). Hannah Harris had five kills, a match-high 16 digs and three assisted blocks in the win. Schuyler Moore totaled 15 assists and four digs, while Jakes had four kills and six assisted blocks. Lindsey Stephens chipped in five kills and Chloe Storm added four kills and five block assists.
As a team, Covenant accumulated 12.0 blocks.
Katelyn Rice had nine kills for Mary Baldwin (3-14, 0-7 USA South), with Reilly Kelly tallying 21 assists and Xenna Belfield 11 digs.
Covenant will travel to Montgomery, Ala., on Thursday, Oct. 6 to face Huntingdon in a USA South clash. Match time is set for 7 p.m. EDT.
