Dr. Spalding Has Accomplished Much For Signal Mountain

  • Monday, October 10, 2016

I have been a resident at Alexian Village for approximately 15 years.  During this period of time, I have been seeing Dr. Spalding for foot treatment.  I have lived all over the United States and have been in the military twice.  I have utilized the services of a number of podiatrist and in my estimation, Dr. Spalding is tops.

In addition to Dr. Spalding’s professional competence, he is also an excellent politician.  He is also a member of the Mountain Business Association as well as the Signal Mountain Lions Club for 17 years.  Dr. Spalding has been on the Signal Mountain Council since 2014.  He is currently up for re-election.

Among many accomplishments that Dr. Spalding has helped the Signal Mountain Town Council to achieve during his two year term are as follows:

Dr. Spalding is an original founder of the Walden’s Ridge Emergency Services and is a Board Member of those services.  With the effort of Dr. Spalding and the Signal Mountain Council, in order to remain competitive with other communities and prevent the turnover of these personnel, the salaries of trained police, and fire personnel, was raised for the first time since 2007.  Since that time, there has been an obvious improvement in morale with the men that serve in those capacities, and a noticeable face lift in both the police and fire department facilities has been noticed.

Dr. Spalding’s hard work with the Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency and the Red Cross, there is now a permanent Red Cross disaster trailer located on Signal Mountain.  For the first time, Signal Mountain now has a county wide EMA/Red Cross blanket insurance policy for our three designated shelter systems with our mountain schools.

Dr. Spalding was also instrumental in requesting to start a Centennial Board Committee, in preparation  for the 100 year celebration of Signal Mountain’s incorporation in 2019.

Dr. Spalding also requested the town, along with the Lions Club, to revive Sparkle Day, in order to renew the annual event to help clean up Signal Mountain.  With the effort of numerous Signal Mountain residents, several hundred pounds of trash was collected.   The council has also initiated a beautification committee to improve our mountain’s aesthetics.

Please remember all the accomplishments that the Signal Mountain Council has accomplished, along with the efforts of Dr. Robert Spalding.  I encourage you to re-elect Dr. Spalding for a second term.
