Police said Arthur Lyonel Domineck set a fire at Kankus at 1910 Market St. as well as doing over $5,000 in damage to gas pumps with a tire iron.

Domineck, 57, of an apartment on Gateway Avenue, is charged with setting fire to personal property and vandalism.

In an incident on Saturday, the manager told police that six pumps were damaged overnight.

Video showed at 3:13 a.m. a Jeep Cherokee pulled up behind pump 1. A black male got out of the vehicle and grabbed what was later found to be a tire iron. He then went around hitting the pump displays with the tire iron.

Then he walked to a dumpster area and used a gas can that he retrieved from his vehicle to start a fire in the grass in front of the dumpster.

A security guard at the nearby Chatt City Suites witnessed Domineck set the fire. He said Domineck walked away, leaving the door to the Jeep open. He later got into the Jeep and left the scene.

The Chattanooga Fire Department came to the convenience store and put the fire out.

Police said the Jeep was rented to Domineck by Dollar Rent A Car.
