Thomas Whatley, 52, In Critical Condition After Being Shot On St. Elmo Avenue

A 52-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot early Tuesday morning in St. Elmo.

The victim was identified as Thomas Whatley.

Officers with the Chattanooga Police Department responded at 1:58 a.m. to the 4900 block of St. Elmo Avenue regarding a person shot.

Upon arrival Chattanooga Police officers located the victim outside a home suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS.

The victim reported the suspects were in a white vehicle.

There are no suspect leads at this time.

The Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau continues to actively follow all actionable leads
