Academy Sports and Outdoors and Scenic City Multisport are joining forces to provide an Academy Awards style 5K Glow Run, open to all ages, taking place Saturday, Nov. 5 from 7 to 11 p.m. at Enterprise South Nature Park to benefit the local chapter.
“Make-A-Wish East Tennessee is an important non-profit in our community," said Jay Nevans, partner with Scenic City Multisport. “We are grateful for the support of Academy Sports and Outdoors, as they are dedicated to supporting their communities and giving back.”
Pre-run festivities will take place at 7 p.m. and the run will begin at dark. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best glow attire or costume and will start down the red carpet through a “glow tunnel” including strobe lights, disco lights, blacklights, and music.
Various glow stations will surround the course, and each participant will collect glow items along the way. Glowing racers will illuminate the park and end with the final glow dance.
Prizes will be awarded for having the brightest, flashiest and most reflective attire.
“We are excited to have the support and partnership of Academy Sports for the upcoming 5K Glow Run," said Catherine Fowlkes, development coordinator for Make-A-Wish East Tennessee. “We hope the event will increase awareness about who we are and our mission to bring hope, strength, and joy to the children we serve across East Tennessee."
A portion of each registration will go directly to Make-A-Wish East Tennessee. For more information or to register, visit www.Academywish5k.org.
