Habitat For Humanity Of Greater Chattanooga Area Launches New Volunteer Initiative

  • Tuesday, October 18, 2016

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area rely solely on volunteers to help them build decent, energy efficient, and affordable homes for working families enrolled in the nonprofit’s homeownership program, officials said. On any given weekend, one may find civic, corporate, student, or church groups volunteering on the Habitat for Humanity’s work sites. The most popular day for groups to volunteer is Saturday.

In an effort to give individuals, not associated with any particular group, an opportunity to participate in a Saturday Build, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area launched Habitat Heroes Build. Through this new volunteer initiative, the first Saturday of each month is designated for individual volunteers.

Anyone 16 years and older can participate in Habitat Heroes Build and volunteers may sign up by contacting Katrina Payne, Habitat’s volunteer coordinator, at 423-756-0507 ext 31 or by sending her email at KPayne@habichatt.org.

The next Habitat Heroes Build will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m.-4 pm.
