Students from McCallie School and Girls Preparatory School will walk a 2.5-mile route through
Chattanooga's North Shore and Downtown to raise money and awareness for cancer research on
Wednesday from 1-2:30 p.m.
The Mission: Remission walk will begin at 1 p.m. on the athletic fields at GPS, and the route will
take students near Coolidge Park, across the Walnut Street Walking Bridge to downtown, by the
Tennessee Aquarium, up the Riverwalk to the Hunter Museum and back across the walking
bridge to finish at GPS.
"Mission: Remission gives students from both schools an outlet to honor those whose lives have
been impacted by cancer and raise funds through the purchase of t-shirts that they will wear for
the walk," officials said.
This will be the fifth time the event has been held by the two schools, with last fall’s event raising
about $22,000 for cancer research. About 1,500 students walked in the event last year, and a
similar number are expected to participate Wednesday, according to officials.
