Coretha Higgins Briggs
Coretha Higgins Briggs, 75, of Chattanooga, died Oct. 15, 2016 with her family by her side.
She was a lifetime resident of the Highland Park neighborhood, and spent 20 years of employment with NHC of Standifer Place, before retiring in 2012. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Naomi Higgins; husband, Eugene Briggs; son, Timothy Briggs; and lifelong partner, James Lewis Sr.
Survivors include her children, Anthony Higgins, Sandra Briggs, James Lewis Jr, and Erica Lewis, all of Chattanooga; siblings, Mable Johnson, Dee Johnson, Joe Higgins, Betty Jean Stewart, and Mack Higgins, all of Chicago, IL; 12 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She will lie in state Friday, October 21, 2016 after 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the chapel. Burial is at Forest Hills Cemetery.
